Juneau hotels: where to stay in Alaska's state capital.
Juneau is Alaska’s state capital and one of the busiest cruise ports on the Inside Passage. There are no roads in or out; you arrive by cruise ship, Alaska Marine Highway ferry, or Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle. The hotel economy has two clear modes: cruise-day traffic (May to September) and quieter shoulder plus winter (October to April).
Cruise-friendly Juneau hotels
Every hotel in this guide gets a cruise-friendly badge based on walk distance to the main cruise berth (South Franklin Street) and the cruise-line shuttle situation. Baranof Hotel, Westmark Baranof, Four Points by Sheraton, and Silverbow Inn are all within a 10-minute walk. The Prospector and the Driftwood sit further out (15 to 25 minutes) and are correspondingly cheaper.
Mendenhall Glacier
Mendenhall Glacier is 12 miles north of downtown, 20 minutes by car or 45 by transit. Some airport-area hotels (Aspen Suites Juneau, Frontier Suites) put you closer to Mendenhall at the cost of being further from the cruise berth. Choose your priority.
