Great Alaska Hotels is the independent English-language editorial guide to Alaska accommodation. We review every notable hotel, wilderness lodge, and cruise-port stay in the state; distinguish in-park Denali lodging from gateway hotels honestly; respect Native Alaskan place names; and hand off to Booking.com and cruise plus tour affiliates transparently when the reader is ready to book.
Our story
The greatalaskahotels.com domain has existed since roughly 2015. It ran a mid-2010s content model that produced 117 posts of variable editorial quality. In 2026 the site was acquired and rebuilt from the ground up: new brand, new editorial policy, new information architecture, and a triage of the 117 legacy posts into keep-with-rewrite, rewrite-from-outline, or delete-with-301. We say this openly because a rebuild is not a launch. Some of what you find here is our work; some is old work we have marked for revision.
Our editorial policy
See how we recommend hotels for the full policy: how we choose hotels, whether we have stayed at each one, the aurora-rating methodology, the cruise-friendly badge, in-park vs gateway distinction, and full affiliate disclosure. Summary: we take Booking.com Partner Program and cruise-affiliate commission on confirmed bookings; ranking is independent of commission; no paid rankings; no sponsored posts in year 1.
