Timing is everything with fishing
Red salmon peak on the Kenai in early to mid July. King season varies and has been restricted in recent years. Silver coho arrive late July and run through August. Halibut is more or less May through September. Book the lodge around the species you actually want to catch. Most lodges work on 3-to-7 night packages with guides, boats, and lunches included.

When is peak salmon season?

Do I need my own fishing gear?
Most lodges and guides supply rods, reels, and terminal tackle. Bring your own waders and polarized sunglasses. Licenses are your responsibility.
How many fish can I take home?
Alaska has slot limits and daily bag limits that change by species, river, and year. Your guide will explain on day one. Processing and shipping is usually an extra cost.
Can non-anglers enjoy a fishing lodge?
At road-accessible lodges yes. Hiking, glacier day trips, flightseeing from the lodge. Fly-in lodges are usually 80% fishing focus; harder fit for a non-angler.
